Select PROJECTS; COMPLETED residential LANDSCAPE DESIGNS:

entry court, pound ridge, New York

This woodland residence had lost qualities of softness and serenity due to expansive paving. The design intervention focused on two goals: to restore a sense of oasis through planting, and to introduce an abbreviated hardscape that honors sculptural detail.

exterior garden room, UPPER EAST SIDE TOWNHOUSE, NEW YORK CITY

This private brownstone courtyard on the NYC Upper East Side provides an inventive custom environment despite limitations of micro-climate conditions. The physical nature of the outdoor space is high shade, and it lacks necessary air flow to support a traditional planted garden.

The design intervention introduces a custom-designed trompe l'oeil metal backdrop as focal feature that complements the interior design by Ann Pyne of McMillen Inc. The outdoor space offers a visual and physical extension of the indoor breakfast room featuring abstracted shapes and forms. The result is intended as a setting animated by the sound of water, dappled texture and light, and seasonal rotation of plantings.

entry sequence, fishers island, new york

This summertime residence sits on top of a steep hill overlooking Long Island Sound. The existing site featured an abrupt driveway approach and a sense of disjuncture between architecture and landscape configuration. The design intervention integrates the house with its setting through the introduction of crisp geometric shapes, low maintenance plantings, and the use of rock boulders as punctuation.

Custom Trellis & fence design, soho penthouse, new york CITY

This penthouse terrace frames bespoke interiors by the internationally-recognized design firm Ingrao. The outcome is a layered trellis sequence for sophisticated visual interest along with enhanced privacy. The design detailing involves the refined use of contemporary materials and finishing, while the trellis vocabulary is timeless.

An interval of removable planter boxes in one segment offers a seasonally-rotating garden feature, while the surrounding length of metalwork was designed as a backdrop to future planters in the foreground. (The latter planter components designed for the foreground are not featured in the photos.)
